What You Will Learn
Spend a full day learning the basics of the wonderful sport of fly fishing. Trout schools are broken into a comfortable mixture of personalized casting instruction using a variety of Sage performance rods, basic knots used, tackle selection, entomology and fly selection and techniques & strategies to use once you get out on the water! Safety, conservation, and etiquette issues that are part of fly fishing are also discussed. Beginner and experienced anglers alike benefit from the personalized instruction offered by Peter. you will leave the school equipped with a strong foundation to begin you adventures in fly fishing!

150 days out of the year you’ll find Capt. Peter Piconi leading anglers to fish in the San Diego area and each fall chasing steelhead on the Klamath River. Peter is featured on the MIGHTY 1090AM “Let’s Talk Hook Up”, OLN’s “Reel Outdoors”, and spotlighted in fly fishing instructional video’s. Piconi is also an accomplished photographer and journalist and has been published in Salt Water Fly Fishing and South West Fly Fishing. Recently, he has joined Umpqua Feather Merchants as a contract tier. Along with guiding trips on San Diego Bay, Peter instructs casting clinics, fly tying classes, surf schools, and leads trips to British Columbia, South America, Baja, Alaska, Utah, Wyoming, and anywhere else fish are biting. Peter is a graduate of Humboldt State University, where he earned his degree in Wildlife Management. He has worked as biologist in California, Idaho and Alaska.
