Your Instructor: Chuck Waterman began fly fishing in New Hampshire at the age of 7, and first sat down at a tying vise at 10. The son of a commercial fly tyer, he began with trout flies of all types, and by age 15 he had expanded his repertoire to Deer Hair Bass Bugs and Atlantic Salmon flies. In his teens, Chuck had the opportunity to learn from several tying legends, including Bill Hunter and Lefty Kreh. After a brief stint as a commercial Atlantic Salmon Fly tyer, Chuck moved to San Diego, where he began to add saltwater flies to his resume. Chuck has shared his passion for tying with new and experienced tyers for over 20 years; he now teaches all disciplines of tying for So Cal Fly Fishing Outfitters.
